Since our last visit, Josh has moved his operation to vibrant and eclectic National Avenue, a neighborhood where design and fabrication businesses mix with swank cafes, carnicerias, and auto body shops. The renovated building looks great and includes an eye catching exterior color block scheme developed by Dave Skelley, the proprietor of Boomerang for Modern, one of the really great mid century modern galleries in San Diego.

We collaborated with Josh on a budget friendly landscape solution that requires little attention or water, absolute requirements of the design since the main activity here is pottery, not gardening. It turned out well and will only get better as the fence post cactus (Stenocereus marginatus) fills in and gets taller. The exterior metal detailing, fabricated by a neighboring shop, is really handsome stuff—just right for the vibe of the street.
