LUCRETIA W. EDWARDS SHORELINE PARK
RICHMOND, CALIFORNIA

To highlight the area’s shipbuilding efforts, low seat walls are located in the park on axis with other Bay Area ship yards.  The axes begin at the park’s highest elevation, in the center of the cul-de-sac that terminates Marina Way at the park.   Inset into the top of each wall is the name of the Area shipyard; with which the wall aligns. Visitors are directed towards Bethlehem San Francisco, Hunters Point in San Francisco, Moore Dry Dock in Oakland, Marinship in Sausalito, and Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo. The ‘Riveter’ Rose, which can withstand the area’s harsh coastal conditions, is planted in between the walls to celebrate the legacy of the thousands of women who worked in the area during WWII.
