Nevin Avenue | Richmond, CA

Project Details

Date: 2016

Vallier Design Associates, Inc. provided urban design services to the Richmond Community Redevelopment Agency (RCRA) for the Nevin Avenue Pedestrian Improvement Project. The goal of the project was to create a safer, more accessible, pedestrian and bicycle friendly route along Nevin Avenue from the Richmond Transit Village/Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) Station to the City of Richmond’s newly renovated Civic Center Plaza. As the prime consultant for the project, VDA provided project management
and oversaw all phases of the project including conceptual design, design development, construction documentation, construction administration and community facilitation for the project. The design features new landscape, hardscape, lighting, Class II bicycle lanes, locations for wayfinding signage and traffic calming measures including design of the first roundabouts approved by the City of Richmond. Design decisions reflect the mixed residential, commercial and civic uses along the corridor.
