Collaborating with New York-based D form A architects, Vallier Design Associates has prepared planting designs representing distinctive regional plant communities for Design Within Reach stores across the country. So far the list includes in San Francisco, Palo Alto, Atlanta, Georgia, Phoenix Arizona, and Paramus New Jersey.

We have really enjoyed the design challenges that come with working with a design focused client in a variety of climates. In San Francisco a mixture of low maintenance flowering perennials and grasses were used to create a “California Coastal” theme. In Phoenix the plant mix evoked springtime in the “Sonoran Desert”. The new Palo Alto store allowed us to explore green wall planting and the Atlanta project features a green roof.
