Planters enhance a landscape design—much like jewelry, a fine necktie, or a well done tattoo can set off carefully chosen clothing. Most of our gardens and a few commercial projects include them in one form or another. Large or small they offer the opportunity to embellish a design, compliment an architectural style, or add a pop of color or whimsy. In some situation a large planter can provide the opportunity to create a miniature garden within the garden. Typically we choose perennial plants for longevity, but planters can also be used as a place for seasonal color with planting rotated in and out. We know one client who during the holidays replaces flowers and foliage in her entry planters with small conifer trees complete with festive lights.
